The Inn at

Àird a' Bhàsair

Fàilte! Welcome to The Inn at Àird a' Bhàsair, formerly known as the Ardvasar Hotel. We are one of the oldest inns on Skye, and the only hotel within walking distance of the Mallaig to Armadale ferry which sails throughout the year: make your visit an authentic "over the sea to Skye" trip - or for an even more atmospheric journey, come to Mallaig by train along the world famous and breathtaking West Highland Line!

The Inn joined the Eilean Iarmain group of businesses in 2017 and has since been refurbished to offer comfortable accommodation in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. It  provides Scottish cuisine including locally caught seafood and local venison/game and offers both indoor and outdoor seating available - the views on a good day are beautiful. The dog-friendly Am Bothan Bar is a Highland pub with good craic, showing live sports, and there is a games room with darts and a pool table also. The MacNaMara Bar & Restaurant is more spacious where you can relax over lunch or an evening meal and try our own range of award-winning Gaelic Whiskies and Gaelic Gins.
The Inn is an excellent base to explore the world renowned sites of Skye. Historic and scenic Eilean Iarmain is only seven miles up the road - visit the stone pier from which Flora MacDonald left Skye as a captive on her way to the Tower of London, the Gallery An Talla Dearg (open Easter to Oct), the shop and wee gin distillery of The Gaelic Whiskies and the Gaelic Gins, as well as Hotel Eilean Iarmain. Also nearby is Armadale Castle and Gardens, home to Clan Donald, and the island's newest distillery at Torabhaig just four miles up the road.

Imagine yourself, awaking to the birds chirping and the sizzle of bacon. The crisp mountain air fills your lungs…

As you would expect, changes have been made to the Inn to help ensure social distancing and keep all staff and patrons safe. These measures include the regular "fogging" of bedrooms and all public areas, the installation of hand sanitiser at all entrances and high risk areas and the installation of perspex barriers at bar & restaurant entrances.

We have created additional seating in our games room and moved the pool table to the breakfast room.

We will be requesting a lead name and contact number from each household visiting us. This will be kept for three weeks and in accordance to the GDPR will only be used for NHS Contact Tracing. All details will be destroyed after 21 days.

More information can be found at

Upon arrival, guests will be  temperature checked by a member of staff. Anyone with a temperature of 38 degrees Celsius or above will, regrettably, be denied entry. This is to ensure the safety of everyone else.

Our takeaway menu is now available on the app Q jump.
